This necklace is a combination of a vintage charm and chain we sourced separately, but when we saw them together, it was an instant match! The chain is accented with solid bars of metal with alternating ray-like serrations.

The Scarab charm is solid 18k gold, and the decorative chain is solid 20k gold. It is a rich yellow gold with a lovely weight. 

Ancient Egyptians revered the scarab beetle for its seemingly magical strength and mysterious life cycle. Khepri, an Egyptian god of the early morning with the head of a scarab, was believed to push the sun into the sky at the dawn of each day and down to the underworld at dusk, a myth likely inspired by observing scarab beetles pushing balls of dung across the sand. This myth can be seen in the sunrays above the scarab's head in this charm.
