Ancient Egyptians revered the scarab beetle for its seemingly magical strength and mysterious life cycle. Khepri, an Egyptian god of the early morning with the head of a scarab, was believed to push the sun into the sky at the dawn of each day and down to the underworld at dusk, a myth likely inspired by observing scarab beetles pushing balls of dung across the sand.

Scarabs lend the power of the this sacred beetle to its wearer, symbolizing creation, life and rebirth.

Our scarab's design is based on an antique soapstone Egyptian revival bead that was maternally passed down. The original bead is shown here.

An interesting, bold gold ring

I looked at this ring for a few months before finally buying it in solid gold. I wanted a ring that I could wear daily that was not plain, not boring, but also not too dressy, so I wanted a bold gold ring without a stone. I had been in Egypt in the past year and loved the meaning of the scarab and knew I wanted this ring. I really like the texture of the knife edge band because it's not too thick yet substantial and comfortable. I also have the Stella ring in gold and I like that they have different bands. The studio was very helpful to make sure I got the right size (based on my ring sizes for different fingers and sizes I'd gotten in their other rings), which is the benefit of working with a small studio who can make the rings to fit perfectly, even if ordering online. Very happy with my new ring.
